Abstract

Financial identity theft has emerged as a significant threat in recent years, enabling criminals to exploit personal information such as names and social security numbers for various illicit activities. This form of theft poses serious consequences, including financial distress and invasion of privacy, leaving victims with limited resources for assistance. Understanding the dynamics of identity theft is crucial to prevent victimization and proactively protect oneself. Unfortunately, identity theft appears to be pervasive, elusive, and unstoppable, causing widespread concern among the public. Individuals are increasingly apprehensive about their vulnerability, recognizing that even their utmost caution may not guarantee immunity from this crime. Furthermore, the advent of the internet has opened new avenues for exploitation, making it easier for criminals to access personal information. It is essential for individuals to implement preventive measures and have a contingency plan in place in the event of identity theft. By garnering a comprehensive understanding of this issue, individuals can proactively safeguard their personal information and mitigate the risks associated with financial identity theft.
