Abstract

Infertility affects approximately 10%–15% of heterosexual couples of reproductive age worldwide and has emerged as a significant public health concern. Beyond its medical implications, infertility carries profound emotional, psychological, and social consequences for individuals and couples. This paper explores the multifaceted impact of infertility, with emphasis on the emotional distress experienced by those affected and the societal expectations that often intensify the burden. Shifting cultural norms around family, marriage, and reproductive roles have both challenged traditional perceptions and contributed to the stigma surrounding infertility. Additionally, advancements in fertility treatments have provided new avenues for parenthood, yet raise complex ethical and social questions. This study delves into the evolving landscape of infertility, analyzing how medical innovations intersect with personal and societal dimensions, ultimately reshaping the experience of family formation.
