Abstract

Travel and tourism represent the world’s largest and most diverse service industry, serving as a vital source of revenue, employment, and economic development for many countries. As a global economic driver, the tourism sector not only boosts consumption but also fosters infrastructure development and contributes significantly to the gross domestic product (GDP). The sector is central to generating foreign exchange earnings, alleviating balance of payments issues, and fostering economic stability in developing nations. Through its impact on various facets of national economies, international tourism is instrumental in creating employment opportunities, generating income, increasing savings, encouraging investment, and spurring economic growth. This paper explores the multi-dimensional contributions of tourism, specifically its role in enhancing economic growth, stabilizing national economies, and providing a sustainable path for development. Additionally, it addresses the challenges faced by the tourism industry, including the need for sustainable practices and the integration of tourism into broader economic strategies
