Abstract

The steering system in Formula SAE (FSAE) racing cars plays a pivotal role in ensuring passing and steering stability. It serves as the mechanism responsible for maintaining or altering the vehicle's direction and facilitates a coordinated cornering relationship between the steering wheels during turns. In the dynamic arena of FSAE competitions, characterized by elements like the 8-word loop, high-speed obstacle avoidance, and endurance races, the steering system's stability holds immense importance. Specifically, the design of the steering trapezoid is a critical aspect of the overall steering system design. An appropriately designed steering trapezoid not only enhances the car's steering capabilities but also contributes to an overall improvement in the vehicle's performance. This research focuses on the significance of the steering trapezoid's design in the context of FSAE racing cars and its implications for performance enhancement.
